Candidates will need to pass both element of the new test at the same test event to obtain an overall pass mark. Research has furnished us with evidence about the amount of improvement in test scores that focussed training can deliver.
The current hazard perception test is set with the following pass marks, out of a maximum of 75 points.
Cars/Motorcycles - 44 points
The test assesses a candidate's overall Harzard Perseption competence via responses to 15 scorable events presented in 14 film clips. The scoring windows use a declining scale of 5 to 1 points, according to how soon the candidate indicates recognition of a potential hazard developing. The HPT element is unlike the multiple choice element of the theory test, where each question has a right or wrong answer.
The length of time permitted for both element of the test is approximatly 67 minutes with a optional 3 minute break in between.
